Michael J. Pothier

Michael J. Pothier, Vice President/General Manager of Advanced Safety in Lafayette, Louisiana, graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a bachelors and masters degree. He has completed an additional 30 hours above his masters specializing in administration and supervision. Beginning in 1969, Pothier's diverse background from education, to oilfield, to safety implementation, has afforded him the opportunity to further his knowledge in training and safety. He began in operations of an oilfield service business, and was promoted to general manager/vice president. He has successfully implemented safety programs and employee training for a broad portfolio of clients. In doing so, he significantly reduced the number of both lost time and record-able accidents to well below the industry average frequency rate and therefore turned the safety programs around. Pothier is a certified instructor in OSHA Compliance areas and PEC Core Compliance. Some of the certifications areas include Fall Protection, Vertical Rescue, Man Lifts, Lockout/Tagout, Back Safety, Forklift Training, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, PPE, and Confined Spaces. He recently completed the program by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), which certifies him as a Master Trainer in Construction Site Safety. In August of 1998, Pothier began Advanced Safety. Now working as a full-time consultant for multiple companies, he is customizing their safety programs, training and actively handles their OSHA requirements and documentation. With an elite staff of five, he has built a customer base doing work in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Florida, and Colorado. 

 

 Cindy Pothier

Cindy Pothier, Office Manager of Advanced Safety in Lafayette, LA, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Buisness Administration from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Cindy began her career working in accounts payables for an oil service company. After a year, she was promoted to bid coordinator where she served for five years. She currently serves as an administrator in the office of Advanced Safety and maintains an office staff of seven employees.

 

Ray Richard

Ray Richard, safety consultant and trainer, graduate of Louisiana State University, Eunice with a degree in Applied Science, majoring in Industrial Safety. Ray is a Certified Safety Technical through National Center for Construction Education and research (NCCER), an Authorized Instructor in OSHA 10 & 30 hr. Construction classes, a Certified Instructor in PEC Basic Orientation (SafeGulf/SafeLand).Ray is also an Excavation/Trenching and Confined Space/Rescue competent person. Ray is a Registered Instructor/Trainer in First Aid/CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens and Pediatric care through MEDIC FIRST AID International.Other accreditations include Fall Protection, Aerial Lifts, Lockout/Tagout, Back Safety, Forklift Operator Certification, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, and PPE. Ray also completed Incident Commander Training and is certified to train 40-hour Hazwoper.

 

James Stelly

James received his Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Industrial Technology in 2003. Jamesâ?? previous work experience includes being an Industrial Engineer for Northrop Grumman Ship Systems in Avondale, Louisiana where he assisted the pipe and electrical crafts in cost estimating. After a brief stay in Avondale, James began working for Advanced Safety in 2006 as a Safety Instructor / Inspector. Besides teaching and inspecting, James also serves as a safety consultant to several different oilfield, general industry, and construction companies. Throughout the years James has received certifications in several different areas of safety. James can teach such classes as LOTO, Bloodborne Pathogens, HAZCOM, Fire Prevention, H2S, Rigging, Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Forklift, and many other areas of safety in general industry and construction. James is a certified Medic First Aid instructor, PEC SafeGulf / SafeLand instructor, Flagger instructor, and an authorized OSHA 10 and 30 construction instructor. James has completed such classes as OSHA 511, 510, 500, Crosby Rigging, and Design and Operation of Work Zone Traffic Control. On the inspection side, James visits customerâ??s businessesâ?? and construction sites to keep them in compliance with OSHA.

 

Thomas Middleman

Thomas Middleman is the District Manager for the Lafayette area trainers. He helps to coordinate the trainersâ?? schedules and training. Thomas also is a DOT consultant/safety consultant/trainer, he spent four years as an Infantryman in the United States Army where he served in Operation Desert Storm. After leaving the Army, Thomas worked for the Georgia Pacific Corporation as a Printing and Cutting press operator/assistant. In 2003 he earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from the University of Louisiana of Lafayette. After graduating, Thomas worked as an Industrial Engineering for Avondale Shipyards. He assisted their fabrication and outfitting shops to manage costs and performance. In June of 2006, Thomas joined the Advanced Safety team. His certifications include NCCER Crane Practical Examiner, NCCER Rigger/Signal Person Practical Examiner, OSHA 511(a 30 hour class for General Industry), OSHA 501 Outreach Trainer, H2S, forklift, permit required confined space, spill prevention, pinch points, fall protection, and mobile crane.

Chris Reddoch

Chris Reddoch is a graduate of Brazosport College in Lake Jackson Texas. He served two years in the US Army Airborne Infantry and an additional four years in the Texas Army National Guard (LRRP Airborne). Before Beginning his career in safety, Chris worked as a pipe fitter and an electrical technician. Chris has completed the Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS) program as well as a 100 Hour Safety Management Course. He has additional training which includes an OSHA 10 Hour for General Industry, an OSHA 10 Hour for Construction Safety, Excavation Competent Person Training, Supervisors Drug and Alcohol Training, an Accident Prevention Course Level 1, and is a trainer for Medic First Aid/CPR and PEC-SafeGulf. Chris is our liaison to our Texas clients and his office is in Houston, TX.

 

Harold Bastin

Harold J. Bastin, safety consultant and trainer, before coming to AS worked as an NDT inspector doing  both off shore and land rig inspection, as well as a certified  Hardbanding operator. He has spent the last 4 years working in the rental tool business in the Rocky Mountain Region. After coming to ASTM his certifications include PEC-SafeLand, Forklift safety, Fall Protection, Fire Prevention and Emergency Plan, Lockout/Tagout, Proper Lifting, Hazcom, and PPE.  He is a registered Medic First Aid/CPR & Bloodborne Pathogens Instructor, and a Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS). Harold services our Rocky Mountain clients from Farmington, NM to Williston, ND. His office is located in Vernal, UT.

 

Kenny Swain

Kenny Swain is a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana and has been in the safety field since 1995. He started his safety career as a Water Survival Instructor in 1995 and began branching out into other fields of safety. Kenny aquired his Forklift Train the Trainer, Confined Space Entry Supervisor, National Traffic Safety Institute(N.T.S.I.) Train the Trainer, SafeGulf  Instructor, and Medic First Aid/CPR Instructor certifications. With these aquired skills he was able to function as Senior Compliance Instructor for Global Training and Environmental into the early 2000's.

 

 

 

Lisa McCoy

Lisa McCoy joined our team after working for FEDEX as a courier for 13 years. She now acts as an Administrative Assistant and enters all the data given to her from the trainers into our Online Training Matrix. When applicable, she prints the certificates and ID cards that are issued from a certification course. Lisa also keeps the client safety meeting books up to date. Facility Inspections and Pictures are saved by Lisa and sent to the clients. Lisa does many odd jobs around the office including answering the phones, scanning documents, sending faxes, etc. She is a valuable resource to our team.
